Senior Data modeler/architect - Business SME
Irving TX

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support transactional, analytical, and reporting systems.
  • Partner with business stakeholders and SMEs in banking and wealth management to gather and analyze requirements.
  • Translate business needs into high-quality data models for investment products, client portfolios, financial planning, advisory services, and regulatory reporting.
  • Develop and maintain data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and data lineage documentation.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, ETL developers, and BI/reporting teams to ensure models support downstream use cases.
  • Optimize and tune data models for performance, scalability, and integration across multiple platforms (e.g., RDBMS, NoSQL, cloud storage).
  • Support data governance, data quality, and master data management efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., BCBS 239, CCAR, MiFID II) and data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Provide guidance on best practices in data modeling, especially in the financial services domain.

Qualifications:

Must-Have:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in data modeling, with at least 3+ years in the banking/wealth management domain.
  • Strong hands-on experience with data modeling tools like Erwin, ER/Studio, PowerDesigner, or similar.
  • Proven knowledge of financial data structures – accounts, transactions, holdings, asset classes, performance, risk metrics, etc.
  • Expertise in relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and familiarity with big data platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Snowflake, Databricks).
  • Understanding of data warehousing, data lakes, and data mesh architectures.
  • Excellent SQL and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with business and IT stakeholders.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with WealthTech platforms (e.g., Avaloq, Temenos, Charles River, InvestCloud).
  • Knowledge of reference data management, market data, and KYC/AML data.
