Job Title: OT Network Engineer
Locations: Brookville, IN | Fairburn, GA | Waxahachie, TX
Duration: Long-term Contract

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced OT Network Engineer to join our team and support our manufacturing network infrastructure across multiple locations. This role involves performing detailed assessments and documentation of operational technology (OT) environments, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and helping to design and implement robust network solutions tailored for industrial settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct on-site assessments of manufacturing facilities to document and analyze existing OT network infrastructure.

  • Perform OT endpoint analysis, including connected and non-connected endpoints and NATR-connected devices.

  • Carry out physical mapping and graphical overlay of endpoints on plant floor plans, supported by visual documentation.

  • Perform cabling and infrastructure analysis: evaluate current setup and plan for additional connectivity.

  • Identify and diagram OT cell/functional areas and create plant floor demarcation.

  • Create detailed Low-Level Designs (LLDs), including:

    • Physical design: cabling, MDF/IDF layouts, environmental controls.

    • Logical design: topology, network overlays, access control, etc.

  • Assist in developing Bills of Materials (BOMs) and implementation plans for upgrades and new deployments.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and facility personnel to ensure data collection, analysis, and design efforts meet technical and business requirements.

  • Follow safety protocols and procedures while working in active, potentially noisy or hot manufacturing environments.

General Skills Required:

  • Experience working in manufacturing or industrial environments.

  • Ability to navigate and work within operational factory settings (e.g., hot, noisy, dusty).

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, documentation, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work independently and follow detailed methodologies and procedures.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).

Technical Skills Required:

General Networking Knowledge:

  • Understanding of manufacturing control systems and their network integration.

  • Familiarity with OT network isolation, internet/media connectivity, and support access patterns.

  • Knowledge of fiber, copper, and wireless (Wi-Fi/radio) communication methods.

Networking & Infrastructure:

  • Experience with IPv4 and IPv6.

  • Solid understanding of the OSI model (Layer 1-3).

  • Knowledge of:

    • Fiber types, transport capabilities, and regeneration.

    • Copper Ethernet standards (Cat5/5e/6).

    • Backup power systems (AC/DC), network cabinets, and environmental controls.

    • Wired and wireless (Wi-Fi) networks in office and industrial settings.

    • Analysis tools for fiber, copper, and Wi-Fi environments.

Design and Documentation:

  • Ability to extract data from network devices (switches, routers, access points).

  • Understanding of network security: ACLs, firewall rules, etc.

  • Experience creating current-state and future-state network designs.

  • Capability to deliver LLDs and diagrams for both brownfield and greenfield deployments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with OT/IT convergence projects.

  • Familiarity with NATR solutions and industrial protocol traffic.

  • Previous experience supporting multi-site industrial networks.

Note: On-site presence is required for plant walk-throughs, data collection, and collaboration with facility teams.
