We seek applicants with research focus on tissue engineering, biomaterials and regenerative medicine. Highly qualified senior postdoctoral fellows with outstanding publications and extramural research funding may be eligible for UTSW's prestigious Endowed Scholars program and are strongly encouraged to apply.

We are especially interested in candidates who will thrive in the highly collaborative UTSW Medical Center environment, working closely with clinical and basic research faculty and translating new technologies into medical solutions. All faculty members are expected to be enthusiastic mentors to trainees and actively engage in the teaching mission of the department.

Responsibilities

Successful candidates are expected to develop innovative computational and biochemical approaches compatible with living systems to diagnose, monitor or treat medical conditions. Development of novel methods and prediction models for monitoring and evaluating health data is highly desirable.

This research focused position will include responsibility for teaching graduate students and mentoring trainees. Specific focus areas of research are open but may include women's health engineering, biomechanics, AI/ML, neuroscience, neurorehabilitation, cardiovascular science, cancer, orthopedics and regenerative medicine.

About the Department of Biomedical Engineering

The UTSW Department of Biomedical Engineering is one of the few placed solely within a medical center, with no undergraduate program. We aim to drive programmatic integration in biomedical engineering and address emerging clinical and scientific challenges in medicine and biology using innovative technologies. Anchored by outstanding faculty, motivated trainees and exceptional clinical and engineering infrastructure the department strives to create innovative systems and methods that will play an active role in transforming the current disease care system into a genuine health care enterprise.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have earned a Ph.D., an M.D. or an equivalent degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related field. A demonstrated potential for innovations in biomedical engineering is desirable. Highly competitive applicants will have education and experience in one or more of the following:

  • Biomedical engineering, materials science engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or related field.
  • Track record of scholarly research.
  • Familiarity with extramural funding, impactful publications, and excellent technical writing skills.
