Job Description:

IT Project Manager (Contract Role)

We are seeking an exceptional IT Project Manager for a 6+ month contract opportunity with a government client. This is a remote position, but candidates must be able to travel to Frankfort, KY 2-3 times per year. The maximum pay rate is $50/hour.

Core Responsibilities

The IT Project Manager (PM) will:
  • Serve as the primary liaison between business units, project teams, and stakeholders
  • Manage projects in alignment with the agency's documented project life cycle, emphasizing team collaboration
  • Lead cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans
  • Ensure requirements are well-defined and approved by stakeholders
  • Set and manage deadlines and priorities
  • Communicate effectively in meetings and one-on-one settings
  • Drive adoption of project roles and processes
  • Assess customer needs and communicate them to the team
  • Develop and maintain project documentation


Key Duties
  • Lead daily stand-up meetings and assist in resolving technical roadblocks
  • Support iterative development by helping define features, user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts to manage and clarify user stories
  • Ask insightful questions to fully understand requirements and implications
  • Clearly articulate issues and recommendations to stakeholders and team members
  • Manage business unit expectations regarding project timelines and deliverables


Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in IT or equivalent experience
  • 2-3 years of experience identifying and documenting IT needs
  • Experience in project management, planning, and documentation
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies
  • Strong decision-making and conflict resolution skills
  • Detail-oriented with advanced problem-solving abilities
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently
  • Quick learner with the ability to apply new technologies effectively
  • Strong team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
