Job Details
Job Title: AS/400 RPG & Synon
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide L2/L3 production support for AS/400-based business-critical applications.
- Analyze, debug, and fix issues in RPGLE, CLLE, and Synon-generated programs.
- Develop enhancements, new modules, and integrate changes per business requirements.
- Work on modernization projects including:
- Converting Synon models to ILE RPG Free-Format.
- Exposing AS/400 programs via APIs/Web Services.
- Improving database structures and SQL optimization in DB2/400.
- Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation for critical system support (if required).
- Collaborate with business users, QA teams, and architects to deliver solutions.
- Document technical workflows and maintain version control.
- Support migration efforts to integrate AS/400 applications with modern platforms/UI.
Required Skills:
- 5 8 years of hands-on experience with AS/400 (IBM i) systems.
- Expertise in Synon (CA 2E) application development and maintenance.
- Good understanding of DB2/400, SQL, and embedded SQL.
- Experience in incident management, root cause analysis, and production support.
- Knowledge of modular programming, service programs, and binding directories.
- Familiarity with change management tools like Aldon, Turnover, or MDCMS.
Education:
- Bachelor s in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience.
