The Boeing Library Services (BLS) team helps employees' access, organize, analyze, manage, and distribute information. BLS optimizes the latest developments in information management strategies to support Boeing digital innovation and competitiveness, delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions across the global enterprise.

The BLS team works with business partners across the enterprise ensuring that the right information gets to the right people at the right time to maximize the value proposition to support Boeing customers. As experts in business and technical information management, BLS employees ensure the proper management of information through the information lifecycle. This role will provide guidance and support in the proper identification, marking, cataloging, management and evaluation of critical Boeing information to support business goals across the enterprise. This role will support the databases, systems and servers responsible for the library platform. This role will direct actions and assist in creating metadata that adheres to information science standards to discover information as a strategic asset. This role will take a lead role in record auditing and ensure ongoing GTC compliance.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provides detailed guidance to end users in accessing and utilizing Boeing information properly to meet information security and protection guidelines
  • Provides general guidance to end users on proper use of externally available information Boeing is contracted to utilize
  • Applies metadata management principles such as authority control, classification schemes, and indexing using a specialized controlled vocabulary in support of daily cataloging activities
  • Displays knowledge of current technology trends in information/metadata management systems and applications
  • Demonstrates ability to work individually and collaboratively within a diverse and changing environment
  • Helps define customer requirements for technical access and document management
  • Supports library applications, systems, databases and servers
  • Develops and maintains library websites and search engine optimization
  • Prepares statistical and narrative reports on cataloging and related activities by leveraging familiarity with integrated library systems (ex. Koha)
  • Displays interest in professional growth and development to enhance skills and knowledge of current trends in information management (ex. cataloging and metadata management)
  • Cultivates an environment of continual learning in information management (ex. metadata management and linked data)
  • Adheres to policies related to the records retention, copyright compliance, global trade controls, information protection, security, and retrieval to support business requirements
  • Responds to complex inquires and performs complex operational assignments

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of experience in metadata management and/or data management
  • 3+ years of experience in SQL/T-SQL
  • 3+ years of experience in Microsoft Excel data analysis to include pivot tables and charts
  • 3+ years of experience working in a cross functional environment with all levels in the business from individual contributors to executive leadership
  • 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of experience leading teams and/or programs
  • Experience in information protection and auditing to ensure data security and compliance
  • Experience with Linux systems administration
  • Experience in aerospace, engineering, or another fields of science & technology
  • Experience with database or information management software application
  • Experience with project management methodologies, including developing project plans, performance management, and managing issues and risks

Summary pay range for Mid-Level: $81,600 - $126,500

Summary pay range for Senior: $102,850 - $159,850
