Position Overview
A Texas-based government program is seeking an experienced QA Automation Analyst to support ongoing software testing initiatives within an Agile development environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining both manual and automated test scripts, preparing and executing User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and ensuring software quality through meticulous validation, reporting, and defect tracking.
The position requires strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with business and technical teams to ensure software releases meet defined requirements and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain manual and automated test scripts to validate system functionality.
Prepare UAT test cases aligned with business requirements and conduct walkthroughs with stakeholders for clarification and approval.
Track test execution progress and produce testing reports to communicate status and outcomes.
Utilize Jira to log, manage, and track defects through resolution.
Develop and maintain requirements traceability matrices to ensure test coverage and alignment with requirements.
Collaborate with Agile teams to support development, testing, and UAT phases.
Troubleshoot defects, perform root cause analysis, and support resolution activities.
Participate in sprint reviews, retrospectives, and test readiness assessments.
Contribute to test automation initiatives using UFT (Unified Functional Testing) and other automation tools.
Coordinate UAT schedules, communicate progress with stakeholders, and provide recommendations for go/no-go decisions.
Support the team in achieving project milestones and deliverables while maintaining focus on quality and efficiency.
Job Requirements
Proven experience in writing and executing test cases and creating comprehensive test plans.
Strong understanding of software usability, requirements traceability, and the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
Proficiency with Xray Test Case Management Tool and Jira for defect tracking and management.
Experience working within Agile/Scrum teams using tools like Jira and SharePoint.
Ability to categorize, prioritize, and manage defects systematically.
Strong SQL skills, including the ability to write queries and perform CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) operations.
Experience performing API testing using Postman, SOAPUI, JMETER, or similar tools.
Familiarity with multiple testing types such as unit, integration, regression, smoke, UAT, system, stress, and performance testing.
Experience creating, executing, and reviewing performance testing scripts.
Knowledge of code coverage tools, process analysis, and systems design.
Hands-on experience with QA automation scripting using UFT.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an Agile sprint team.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders.
Excellent time management, estimation, and multitasking abilities.
Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts preferred.
Prior experience with Texas Health and Human Services (HHS) systems preferred.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must have:
8 or more years of experience writing and executing test cases, as well as creating test plans.
8 or more years of experience with software usability concepts, requirements traceability, and the SDLC process.
8 or more years of experience using Xray Test Case Management Tool.
8 or more years of experience writing SQL queries and performing CRUD operations.
8 or more years of experience utilizing CI/CD pipelines to enhance testing processes.
8 or more years of experience conducting API testing using tools such as Postman, SOAPUI, or JMETER.
8 or more years of experience in writing and executing automated tests using UFT.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with public sector or state agency systems, particularly within Health and Human Services (HHS).
Knowledge of object-oriented design principles.
Familiarity with performance testing methodologies and tools.
Strong understanding of Agile QA best practices.
