SUMMARY:



The Manager of Data Governance and Analytics is responsible for leading the development and execution of the data strategy for a security division with over 5,000 employees. This role involves overseeing the reporting and analytics functions, designing and building dashboards, ensuring data integrity, and enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data management, analytics, process improvement, automation, and reporting, combined with strategic thinking and leadership skills. This position will collaborate closely with various departments to ensure that data initiatives align with business goals and objectives.



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:



Data Strategy Development (20%):



  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with the organization's business objectives.

  • Establish data governance frameworks and policies to ensure data quality, consistency, and security across the organization.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics that support strategic goals.


Reporting and Analytics Management (45%):



  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of reporting systems and dashboards that provide actionable insights to stakeholders.

  • Oversee the creation and distribution of regular and ad-hoc reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

  • Drive the adoption of advanced analytics techniques, including predictive modeling, to enhance decision-making processes.


Cross-Functional Collaboration (10%):



  • Work closely with Ops, Finance, HR, and other departments to ensure data initiatives are integrated and aligned with overall business processes.

  • Act as a liaison between business units and the data analytics function to understand data needs and deliver solutions that meet those needs.


Team Leadership and Development (15%):



  • Manage and mentor a team of data analysts, providing guidance on best practices in data analysis, reporting, and visualization.

  • Set performance goals and conduct regular evaluations to ensure team members are meeting objectives.


Technology and Tool Management (5%):



  • Evaluate and select appropriate data analytics and reporting tools, ensuring they meet the organization's needs and are scalable.

  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend enhancements or new solutions.

  • Oversee the integration of data from various sources into a centralized data warehouse or platform.


Data Quality and Compliance (5%):



  • Implement data quality assurance processes to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of data.

  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and internal policies related to data security and confidentiality.

  • Regularly audit data processes and systems to identify and rectify any issues.




REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE




  • BS/MS Degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related fields

  • 5+ years of experience in data management, analytics, and reporting, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing data strategies in a mid-to-large organization.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for data-driven improvements.

  • Prior experience building out a data governance model, standardized & centralized data architecture, and strategic roadmaps that drive operational efficiency through data & analytics.

  • Deep working knowledge of data governance, data quality, and data integration practices.

  • Knowledge or advanced training in machine learning and predictive analytics

  • Highly skilled with data visualization and storytelling techniques

  • Proficiency in data analysis and data visualization tools (e.g., DOMO, Tableau, Power BI, SQL, Excel, Python, R).

  • Expert level skills with Excel

  • Experience extracting, manipulating, and modeling data from various sources (i.e, HRIS platforms, Financial Systems, and Operational Software Applications)

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences



PREFERED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:




  • Relevant industry certifications (i.e., Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, DOMO Certification)

  • Certification in data governance and management (e.g., DAMA Certified Data Management Professional)

  • Expert level SQL skills

  • Well-versed with Agile & Scrum methodologies and related experience

  • Experience with data warehousing solutions and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

  • Understanding of relevant data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and compliance requirements.

  • Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL processes

  • Experience and/or familiarity with data automaton, integration, and manipulation tools & techniques (i.e., Python, R, SQL, APIs, ETL, ect)

  • Agile/Scrum Certification (i.e., Certified Scrum Master)
