Senior Infrastructure Specialist

St. Louis, Missouri

Initial term: 18 months (position expected to run longer)

Description:

This position will sit on-site M-Th; Fridays are remote.

***The manager is focused on candidates who have strong Cisco and Aruba networking with

some industrial networking as well.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Infrastructure Specialist provides LAN engineering design, review, and implementation for capital & local factory projects relating to network infrastructure at the various Factory locations. The Sr Infrastructure Specialist also acts as a technical resource to NPPC Factories , providing technical network assistance, support, and dissemination of technical information regarding production LANs. This position will be responsible for researching, proposing, and implementing new LAN technologies at the operating Factories.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Plans, develops, coordinates, and directs projects relating to the plant Local Area Network .

Provides strategic direction in the area of Local Area Networks and related technologies for all plant locations.

Conceives, plans, and conducts research in problem areas of the existing Local Area Networks at the plants, of considerable scope and complexity.

Seeks out and applies methods, procedures, practices, and technology to improve performance level and efficiency of the plant LAN/WAN and associated equipment.

Interacts and consults with external vendors, operations and plant personnel to obtain input required to provide a customer accepted product. Works with representatives of corporate and plant Engineering, Maintenance, and LGO, to determine sound solutions to opportunities related to the plant Local Area Networks.

Acts as a technical expert and resource to the Factories, answering questions and troubleshooting difficult LAN/WAN issues.

Conducts wireless surveys and makes recommendations for optimization of factory wireless infrastructure.

Provides On-Call Support for factory production after normal business hours on a rotation.

Acts as the primary contact for all issues related to the Local Area Networks and associated technologies for internal and external entities outside of engineering.

Perform all other duties as assigned

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Subject Matter Expert in CISCO/HPE Aruba routers and switches.

2. Working knowledge of Industrial networking.

3. Strong understanding of CISCO/HPE Aruba wireless networks, security and connectivity.

4. Support the current LAN/WAN configurations at each factory while adhering and following company standards and best practices.

5. Participates in on-call rotation for Factory support after business hours.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum):

Education: BS degree in related field and/or 5+ years of experience.

Certification(s): CCNA / CCNP / HPE Aruba certifications preferred but not required.

Experience (Years/Type):

5+ years in technology field in two or more of the following

o Cisco Switches / Routers / Industrial switching

o HPE Aruba Switches / Routers / Industrial Switching

o Firewalls CheckPoint / Fortinet / Cisco

o Wireless LAN controllers Cisco / HPE Aruba

o Mobile Solutions

o Microwave/Laser Bridges

o LAN Network Monitoring devices Solarwinds Orion / Pingdom / Cisco DNA Center / Aruba Central / ThousandEyes / Grafana / NetBrain

o Service Now ITSM

Skills

Technical competency in CISCO/HPE Aruba routers and switches configuration and support

Working knowledge of Ethernet network troubleshooting tools and methodologies

LAN topology design, configuration, and support

VLAN architecture design, configuration, and support

CISCO/HPE Aruba Wireless networks, Industrial networks, and implementation of all of the above.
