Job Details
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee and prioritize the scheduling of Engineering resources to align with company objectives.
Manage engineering projects from concept to completion, including design, reverse engineering, failure analysis, and product release to the shop and customer.
Coordinate all design, reverse engineering, and analysis inputs and outputs with relevant stakeholders across all projects and product lines.
Collaborate with external design partners to support product development and service requirements.
Identify and qualify third-party machining and gear manufacturing vendors; serve as the primary technical contact for these external resources.
Review and approve final designs and production releases.
Partner with the Shop Manager and local leadership to create and maintain training materials that support new employee onboarding and continuous improvement efforts.
Manage the Engineering team, including hiring, training, performance reviews, and terminations.
Develop, maintain, and enforce departmental policies and standards for design, documentation, and production release, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
Provide technical support to the Sales team by addressing customer inquiries and assisting with project quotes involving engineering specifications.
Handle warranty claims and coordinate troubleshooting efforts for field and production issues.
Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and security of all engineering documentation and databases, including Bills of Material, solid models, detailed drawings, specification sheets, calculations, and layouts.
Collaborate with Quality, Purchasing, and Production teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of products.
Participate in annual budget planning by identifying and justifying engineering resource needs.
Prepare and submit Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) requests for capital expenditures related to design projects.
