Job Description

Overview
You will be the Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer specializing in Modeling and Simulation (M&S) for the Missiles and Fire Control team. Our team is responsible for developing and applying innovative M&S solutions to support the design, development, and testing of complex technical systems.

What You Will Be Doing
As the GNC Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and validating complex models and simulations to evaluate system performance and verify requirements. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate models, software, and hardware into simulations, and support ground and flight test efforts.

Your responsibilities will include:
* Designing and documenting model and simulation requirements and architecture
* Developing, verifying, and validating complex models and simulations, such as 6-DOF and effects-based simulations
* Evaluating system performance in complex scenarios and environments
* Performing critical studies, analyses, and test activities
* Supporting ground and flight test efforts, including HWIL activities
* Collaborating with subsystem and software engineers to integrate models and software into simulations

Basic Qualifications

Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Secret clearance prior to start
Willing to work onsite in a classified area or lab environment
Must have a college degree in computer science, physics, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, applied mathematics, or similar
Professionally demonstrated at least an intermediate proficiency in C++
Professionally demonstrated advanced proficiency in Matlab or Python
Experience in modeling and simulation of complex weapon systems and/or sensor systems
Professionally demonstrated the ability to develop and/or verify/validate complex vehicle models and simulations such as missile 6-degree-of-freedom simulations
Professionally demonstrated strong math skills in the areas of linear algebra, matrix math, statistics, trigonometry, and coordinate transformations
Strong written/verbal communication and organizational and interpersonal skills

Desired skills

An active U.S. DOD Secret clearance with an investigation date in the last 5 years
Advanced proficiency in C++
Experience operating in Linux environments
Experience with Agile development
Experience performing one or more of the following technical GNC assignments:
o Develop and analyze algorithms such as guidance, navigation, autopilot, inertial tracking, and servo control algorithms
o Develop and/or verify/validate complex vehicle models and simulations such as missile 6-degree-of-freedom simulations
o Demonstrated strong math skills in the areas of linear algebra, matrix math, statistics, trigonometry, and coordinate transformations
o Develop, verify and validate complex Electro Optical / InfraRed and/or Radio Frequency sensor models
o Ability to perform preflight system performance assessment and post flight verification analyses
Experience deploying algorithms that satisfy real-time performance requirements
Experience with DevOps/DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines and software version control such as Git

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $79,700 - $140,530. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.
