Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe CICS Engineer to join a global technology infrastructure team supporting large-scale, mission-critical financial systems. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in CICS administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting within a 24x7 Sysplex and CICSPlex environment.
This role is fully remote and requires hands-on experience with CICS system engineering, CICSPlex SM, and related performance management tools. Candidates should be capable of handling complex production issues independently, including on-call responsibilities across global teams.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and maintain CICS environments in a large-scale, 24x7 Sysplex/CICSPlex infrastructure.
Perform system and software maintenance, configuration, and tuning for high availability and performance.
Conduct problem determination, dump analysis, and root cause resolution for production issues.
Support software upgrades and maintenance using SMP/E.
Analyze and optimize CICS parameters for performance and reliability across multiple regions.
Monitor and analyze CICS SMF records using CICS Performance Analyzer and other monitoring tools.
Collaborate with global operations and development teams across the US, UK, and Asia.
Provide on-call support on a rotational basis, including weekends.
Support and mentor developers on CICS integration and debugging best practices.
Utilize tools such as Sysview for CICS, Rocket C-Prof, and CICS AI performance products for optimization and diagnostics.
Required Qualifications
5 15 years of experience as a CICS Systems Programmer/Engineer in a large-scale enterprise environment.
Expertise with CICSPlex SM setup, customization, and performance tuning.
Strong knowledge of SMP/E, CICS SMF, and CICS resource definitions.
Experience with Mainframe WebSphere MQ and integration within CICS.
Proficiency in dump analysis, performance tuning, and problem determination.
Familiarity with Sysview for CICS and other CICS monitoring/performance tools.
Excellent analytical, communication, and troubleshooting skills.
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
Prior experience in the financial services industry (preferred).
Desired Skills
Knowledge of Assembler, COBOL, and REXX programming for CICS exits and utilities.
Experience supporting web applications in CICS TS V6.x.
Understanding of z/OS components such as APF, Linklist, LPA, RLS, and Coupling Facility.
Experience with CICS Configuration Manager, CICS Explorer, and CICS REST Services.
Prior exposure to Rocket C-Prof or other CICS AI-based performance products.
Working knowledge of CICS security, resource management, and disaster recovery procedures.
