we are a Tier 1 vendor for the City and County of San Francisco for Cloud Services, Staffing Services and Training Services. For this multi-year opportunity with a diverse set of needs to address, we are currently focusing on establishing partnerships with individuals as well as companies who can help us enhance our overall service portfolio, cut lead times, and ultimately help us deliver successfully. We currently hold sizable Government accounts in the San Francisco bay area including City and County of San Francisco, San Mateo County, and Santa Clara County.

Core Responsibilities

Actuate Platform Expertise

Maintain, administer, and optimize Actuate BI / BIRT environments (e.g., iServer, iHub, report repositories).

Support deployment and lifecycle of reports and analytics content.

Troubleshoot performance, security, data connections, and scheduling issues.

Configure and manage data sources, JDBC connections, custom plugins, and security settings as needed.

Report Development & Maintenance

Design, update, and debug Actuate/BIRT reports and dashboards.

Write and optimize SQL queries and data bindings for reporting logic.

Customize report behavior using XML, scripting (e.g., JavaScript), parameters, charts, subreports, and dynamic content.

Migration & Integration Support

Analyze existing Actuate reports to assess complexity and technical dependencies.

Work with data engineering and BI teams to identify data models, logic, and transformation rules to be ported or re-engineered in Tableau.

Provide technical documentation of existing Actuate BI logic and assist in translation into Tableau-compatible form.

Technical Collaboration

Collaborate closely with backend teams, data architects, and Tableau developers.

Share domain knowledge of Actuate architecture to shape migration strategy and mitigate risk.

Required Skills & Expertise

Technical Proficiency

Actuate / OpenText BI Platforms

Deep experience with Actuate BI stack, especially BIRT and Actuate iServer/iHub products.

Practical knowledge of report deployment, scheduling, and administration. Report Development & Customization

Strong competence in building and maintaining report definitions and data visualizations.

Capable of leveraging scripting/custom logic to support interactive and parameterized reports.

SQL & Data Integration

Expert level SQL skills to query, transform and optimize data for reporting.

Comfortable working with relational databases and diverse data sources (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).

Scripting & Code

Experience with JavaScript, XML, and other Actuate custom report scripting as appropriate.

Server / DevOps Knowledge

Understanding of deployment environments, server configuration, and resource management for BI platforms.

Business Intelligence Concepts

Solid understanding of BI principles: data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, metadata management, and reporting pipelines

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Profile

5+ years of experience in Actuate BI/BIRT environments or enterprise reporting

systems.

Proven track record supporting reporting migrations or BI modernizations.

Strong database background and scripting skills.

Excellent communicator with ability to document technical assumptions and work

with cross-functional teams.

Certifications (beneficial but not required)

Actuate or Eclipse BIRT training/certification.

Tableau certifications -- Tableau Desktop or Server Specialist.
