Description

SAIC is seeking an Interface Development Systems Engineer to support the Tranche 3 Program Integration (T3PI) Program in Chantilly, VA . T3PI is SAIC's Prime Program supporting the Space Development Agency (SDA). T3PI is tasked with leading system engineering and integration efforts for Tranche 3 of the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA), a satellite constellation designed to significantly enhance the U.S. military's ability to detect and counter missile threats.

As the Interface Development Systems Engineer, you will support the Systems Engineering and Integration of the Tranche 3 constellation, which includes hundreds of satellites fulfilling multiple missions such as missile warning, tracking and defense, and tactical communications for warfighters. You will also collaborate with the Space Development Agency (SDA), end users, space vehicle contractors, and ground segment contractors to ensure successful interface development implementation, integration, and testing.

Responsibilities to include:
  • Translating system requirements into interface functionality that integrate space, ground, and end user systems, considering technical, schedule, and cost constraints. This includes mature and newly identified interfaces.
  • Developing interface control documents (ICDs) and system models that define interfaces between space, ground, and end user segments, ensuring inter-segment communications satisfy system-level requirements.
  • Creating system threads that evaluate and document step-by-step functional behaviors between space, ground, and end user elements.
  • Performing functional analysis, latency analysis, and trade studies.
  • Collaborating with space vehicle and ground segment contractors to ensure designs meet requirements and interfaces function properly across segments and systems.
  • Assisting with planning and executing system-level tests and evaluating segment-level test plans and execution.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience.
  • Active Top Secret
  • Experience with Space Systems Interface Development, including space-to-ground ICD development.
  • Strong understanding and experience with network interface development, including message formatting and exchange, network protocols, message queuing, error control and correction, and security and encryption.
  • Experience with RF and terrestrial network interfaces, as well as capturing interface details in Cameo, is also required.
