Senior Storage Administrator (NetApp)

Full time salaried opportunity with our client in the Minneapolis area for an experienced NetApp Storage Administrator.

• Must be local to Minneapolis/St Paul, MN area.

What you'll do: Seasoned professional will take charge of our extensive storage environment. With a global presence, we rely on a diverse array of storage solutions, predominantly NetApp clusters, to facilitate our operations. Infrastructure spans multiple sites and serves various critical functions, including supporting Oracle ERP systems, facilitating Veeam backups, and provisioning storage for virtualized environments. Seeking a highly skilled individual who can not only manage day-to-day operations but also drive strategic initiatives to enhance efficiency, automate processes, and optimize performance.

• Lead and participate in the design, implementation, and configuration of SAN and NAS storage systems, ensuring adherence to security compliance standards.
• Maximize storage infrastructure functionality and recommend improvements for availability, performance, and disaster recovery readiness.
• Ensure data accessibility through secure protocols and industry-standard practices.
• Oversee patch management for all SAN and NAS storage systems.
• Manage storage provisioning and decommissioning processes according to documented procedures.
• Troubleshoot NFS exports and CIFS Shares, resolving issues promptly to minimize downtime.
• Identify automation opportunities and implement solutions using scripting and Ansible.
• Proactively monitor SAN and NAS environments, addressing hardware and performance issues as they arise.
• Collaborate with vendors to resolve complex challenges and stay abreast of emerging technologies.
• Develop and maintain operational standards and documentation for storage management activities.
• Participate in change control lifecycle activities and provide support in on-call rotations.

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in production support of Storage & Backup Administration in a large-scale, multi-site NetApp environment.
• Expert-level knowledge of SAN and NAS storage technologies, including NetApp FAS and AFF, Cisco MDS, Synology, and IBM FS5100.
• Advanced to expert knowledge of operating systems (AIX, Linux, Windows, VMware) and their integration with storage systems.
• Understanding of application/database design and its interaction with SAN and NAS storage.
• Strong grasp of networking concepts relevant to server environments and virtualization.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
• Proven experience in mentoring and coaching junior team members.
