Job Title: Unikix Administrator (Unikix & WebSphere MQ)
Location: Calgary, AB (Onsite)
Duration/Term: Long Term Contract
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Unikix Admin to support WebSphere MQ consolidation and Unikix (mainframe emulation) upgrade projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in middleware services, ensuring application health, availability, and capacity management. This role requires problem-solving skills, real-time troubleshooting, and strong knowledge of Linux, Unikix, and Windows environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in WebSphere MQ consolidation and Unikix upgrade projects.
- Monitor and ensure application health for middleware services, taking corrective actions as needed.
- Engage in disaster recovery operations, supporting business continuity initiatives.
- Provide real-time problem resolution by analyzing dumps, traces, performance metrics, and logs.
- Execute restores for business partners when required.
- Collaborate with Shared Services (Middleware) team, providing cross-training and support.
- Maintain technical documentation for Middleware applications, covering functions, configurations, and operations.
- Perform middleware monitoring, ensuring adherence to stability and performance metrics.
- Facilitate testing and deployments, ensuring solutions are ready for production environments.
- Support application upgrades, patching, and hotfix installations.
Qualifications:
- University degree, college, or technical diploma in Information Technology or a related field.
- Technical proficiency in Linux/Unikix and Windows environments.
- Hands-on experience with middleware products such as IBM MQ Series and NTT Unikix emulation software.
- Experience supporting major Linux/Unix business applications is an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with real-time troubleshooting expertise.
- Effective communication and documentation skills for internal and external support.
- Organizational and planning abilities, ensuring results-oriented execution.
- Excellent customer service, teamwork, and follow-up skills.
