Wafer Fab Process/Equipment Engineer
Broadcom Optical Systems Division (OSD)
PA Wafer Fab, Lehigh Valley Pennsylvania
Position Overview:
Located in Breinigsville, PA our high volume, 24/7 manufacturing facility produces products to enable fiber optic communication expansion. As a Wafer Fab Process Engineer, you will develop, improve and sustain wafer fab processes including photolithography, dry etch, wet etch and thin film deposition processes for Indium Phosphide laser and detector device manufacturing. You will be responsible for installing robust equipment and process solutions through rigorous characterization and statistical validation before ramping them into high-volume manufacturing.
Responsibilities:
Develop, improve, and sustain wafer fab processes including photolithography, RIE/ICP dry etch, wet etch and thin film deposition processes for high volume photonic integrated circuit manufacturing.
Provide technical leadership in improving, and maintaining processed and equipment.
Identify, select and start up new equipment; optimize hardware and software. Collaborate with equipment vendors and other manufacturing engineers at Broadcom to drive fab performance and capability.
Conduct design of experiments (DOE), data analysis, failure analysis, and yield improvement. Take ownership and lead projects to develop/qualify new processes and tools. Complete projects on time and within budget
Create and optimize standard operating procedures and drive continuous improvement
Maintain and improve quality management standard including creating and reviewing control plans and SPC charts for robust quality control.
Drive review and continuous improvement of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner
Work with peers and process engineering/maintenance teams to establish project objectives, schedules, and resources for projects. Organize and manage longer-term improvement projects to meet organizational goals.
Qualifications and skills:
Bachelors in Electrical/Chemical/Material/Mechanical engineering with 5+ years; Masters with 3+ years; or PhD
Hands-on semiconductor wafer manufacturing experience, preferably from an InP semiconductor production environment or compound semiconductor manufacturing environment
Direct experience in metals evaporation, RIE/ICP, wet chemistry, thin film deposition or photolithography in a manufacturing environment
Familiar with material & process characterization methods
Experience in using SPC, DOE, Lean manufacturing methods, and JMP experience.
Strong structured problem solving, teamwork, and communication skills
Ability to work outside of normal business hours

Compensation and Benefits
The annual base salary range for this position is $91,000 - $146,000
This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
