Job Description:

We are hiring Senior Backend Java Developers to join a fast-paced, high-impact team at American Airlines in Fort Worth, TX. This is a critical role focused on rebuilding a mainframe application from scratch using modern backend technologies. Ideal candidates are hands-on coders with expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and cloud-native architectures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop backend services using Java and Spring Boot

  • Build microservices architecture for a 24x7 mission-critical application

  • Work on payment systems with high availability and performance

  • Implement event-driven architecture using Apache Kafka

  • Design and manage CI/CD pipelines, with end-to-end ownership

  • Deploy and manage services on Kubernetes

  • Operate in Azure or AWS environments and manage cloud infrastructure

  • Collaborate on DevOps and code support as part of an integrated team

  • Build and push code across environments with minimal platform dependencies

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong Core Java and Spring Boot development (must be a hands-on coder)

  • Kafka for real-time data/event processing

  • Microservices architecture and distributed systems

  • Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.)

  • Working knowledge of Kubernetes

  • Hands-on with either Azure or AWS (infrastructure ownership)

  • Experience in building and managing pipelines

  • Ability to work on a mission-critical system (24x7 uptime)

  • No front-end/UI work involved this is a pure backend developer role

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in rewriting legacy/mainframe applications

  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and supporting live applications

  • Agile/Scrum team experience

Additional Notes:

  • Onsite work in Fort Worth, TX is required no remote options

  • Candidates must be local or willing to relocate
