About the Role & Team

The Advertising Platforms team is responsible for creating and scaling innovative global advertising solutions by building critical tools and workflows to support digital & linear ad sales, traffic, marketing, and parts of broadcast operations. The Sr. Data Engineer will contribute to the Company's success by partnering with business, analytics, and infrastructure teams to design and build data pipelines to deliver batch and real time data for analytics and reporting capabilities to the Linear Ad Sales business unit. Collaborating across teams, they will identify internal/external data sources, design table structure, define data pipeline strategy & automated Data Quality checks. You will also help mentor and guide other more junior data engineers in their data pipeline development.

What You Will Do

  • Contribute to the design and growth of our Data Products and Data Warehouses around Ad data.
  • Use strong analytical thought to exercise judgement and identify solutions for recommendation.
  • Partner with technical and non-technical colleagues to understand data and reporting requirements, and Collaborate with Data Product Managers, Data Architects, and other Data Engineers to design, implement, and deliver successful data solutions
  • Contribute to the design of table structures and defining of data pipelines to build performant Data solutions that are reliable and scalable in a fast-growing data ecosystem.
  • Develop Data Quality framework and data checks
  • Develop and maintain ETL routines using ETL and orchestration tools such as Airflow
  • Serve as an advanced resource to other Data Engineers on the team, and mentor and coach more junior members of the team helping to improve their skills, knowledge, and productivity.
  • Design and implement the different stages of the Data pipelines, using AWS and Snowflake.
  • Build safeguards for pipeline failures and minimize data quality issues.
  • Contribute to the guarantee that data is always protected and secured by the latest encryption technologies.
  • Collaborate with others to identify new ways to help make our data platform more scalable, resilient, and reliable and then work across our team to put your ideas into action.
  • Some mentorship of other data engineers, serving as a "go-to" for less experienced engineers.
  • Review design and code produced by other data engineers.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • At least 5+ years of data engineering experience developing large data pipelines.
  • At least 5+ years of experience in Snowflake.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling principles including Dimensional modeling, data normalization principles.
  • Familiarity working with SQL Engines and able to conduct advanced performance tuning.
  • Ability to think strategically, analyze and interpret market and consumer information.
  • Excellent conceptual and analytical reasoning competencies.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment.
  • Ability to anticipate technical challenges and develop contingency plans
  • Self-motivated independent thinker and collaborative team member
  • Implement Industry Standards /Best Practices.
  • Familiarity with Agile Scrum principles and ceremonies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong experience using analytic SQL, working with traditional relational databases and/or distributed systems (Snowflake or Redshift), required.
  • Strong experience programming languages (e.g. Python, Pyspark), preferred.
  • Strong experience with data orchestration/ETL tools (Airflow, Nifi), preferred.
  • Experience with Databricks/EMR/Spark a plus.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, Kafka or other cloud technologies

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Master's Degree a plus.

The hiring range for this position in Bristol, CT is $136,100.00 - $182,400.00 and in New York, NY is $142,600.00 - $191,100.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
