About the Role:

We are seeking an Information Security Project Manager with deep expertise in cloud architecture, deployment, and administration to manage a complex Web Application Firewall (WAF) project. This backfill role requires a self-starter who can hit the ground running with minimal onboarding.

This is a high-impact, 100% onsite role supporting a critical HHSC/DSHS initiative involving advanced security management, enterprise-level project execution, and hands-on leadership of a technical team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a complex WAF project involving up to 100 applications.

  • Manage and mentor a team of up to 3 contractors (Network Security Analysts and a Cloud/Application Developer).

  • Oversee budgeting, planning, and tracking using enterprise portfolio project management tools.

  • Act as a technical hands-on contributor when resources are limited.

  • Ensure compliance with DIR Project Management Framework, HHSC, and DSHS IT Security standards.

  • Collaborate closely with Managed Services vendors for timely and efficient project delivery.

Required Experience & Skills:

Minimum 15+ years of IT experience
Minimum 8+ years of advanced security project management
Expertise in cloud architecture, deployment, and administration
Proven experience with WAF implementation (SaaS WAF)
Strong background in web information systems, security, and controls
Hands-on experience managing large-scale security projects
Ability to handle staff augmentation and fill resource gaps
Deep understanding of the Texas DIR PM Framework
Must have previous experience working with HHSC/DSHS
Strong decision-making and critical thinking skills
High creativity and adaptability in limited-resource environments
