Job Summary

We are seeking a UKG Payroll Implementation Specialist to lead the end-to-end deployment of UKG payroll solutions for our clients. You will act as the primary technical lead, responsible for configuring the system, migrating complex data sets, and ensuring that payroll cycles are accurate and compliant with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of payroll logic and a proven track record of successful UKG go-lives.

Key Responsibilities

1. System Configuration & Setup

  • Lead the discovery phase to document client requirements for earnings, deductions, taxes, and organizational structures.
  • Configure UKG Pro/Ready environments, including Pay Groups, General Ledger (GL) mapping, and Year-End settings.
  • Build and customize payroll workflows and business rules to automate manual processes.

2. Data Migration & Integration

  • Extract, clean, and map historical payroll data from legacy systems (e.g., ADP, Ceridian, or Workday) into UKG.
  • Perform rigorous Parallel Payroll Testing to compare legacy output against UKG output, identifying and resolving discrepancies to the penny.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to set up third-party integrations (e.g., 401k providers, benefits carriers, and banks).

3. Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all system configurations adhere to FLSA standards and multi-state tax jurisdictions.
  • Conduct comprehensive UAT (User Acceptance Testing) and troubleshoot configuration errors prior to go-live.
  • Stay updated on UKG product releases and legislative changes affecting payroll processing.

4. Client Training & Handoff

  • Develop and deliver tailored training sessions for client payroll administrators.
  • Provide "hyper-care" support during the first 2–3 live payroll cycles to ensure a smooth transition to the post-live support team.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Expertise

  • UKG Platform Knowledge: Minimum 2–4 years of direct experience implementing UKG Pro (formerly UltiPro) or UKG Ready (formerly Kronos Dimensions/Workforce Ready).
  • Data Management: Advanced proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, Power Query) for data auditing and manipulation.
  • Reporting: Experience building complex reports using UKG Cognos or BI Reporting tools.

Professional Qualifications

  • Certification: UKG Certified Implementation Consultant status is highly preferred.
  • Payroll Knowledge: Strong understanding of payroll tax, garnishments, and labor laws. CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) designation is a significant plus.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple implementation workstreams simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.
