Job Description Power BI Developer (SQL, DAX, ETL & Data Integration)

Primary Skills: Power BI, SQL Server, DAX, Data Integration

• Minimum 15 years of hands-on experience in designing, developing, and deploying Power BI dashboards, reports, and KPIs to support enterprise business needs.
• Strong expertise in SQL Server, including writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, indexing, query optimization, and overall performance tuning for large datasets.
• Advanced proficiency in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) to implement complex business logic, calculations, and time intelligence functions in Power BI.
• Ability to design optimized Power BI data models with effective relationships, hierarchies, aggregations, and incremental refresh strategies to ensure performance at scale.
• Hands-on experience working with file systems and semi-structured/unstructured sources including CSV, Excel, XML, JSON, flat files, and folder-based ingestion for reporting.
• Good understanding of Talend ETL workflows, with ability to interpret and leverage Talend pipelines as data sources for downstream Power BI models.
• Strong data preparation and transformation skills using Power Query (M language), SQL preprocessing, and integration with multiple sources.
• Experience in connecting Power BI to heterogeneous data sources such as SQL Server, flat files, APIs, legacy databases, and cloud storage (Azure Blob, Data Lake, AWS S3, etc.).
• Expertise in performance tuning for Power BI reports including query folding, optimizing visuals, aggregating datasets, and reducing refresh times.
• Experience implementing Row-Level Security (RLS), role-based access, and scheduled refresh strategies to ensure secure and governed access to reports.
• Ability to work with large, complex datasets from healthcare, finance, or other domains, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency of reporting outputs.
• Strong collaboration skills to engage with business analysts, data engineers, and DBAs, translating requirements into efficient reporting solutions.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) and knowledge of integrating Power BI with services like Azure Synapse, Azure SQL, or Snowflake is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of version control (Git), CI/CD practices, and deployment pipelines for Power BI assets in enterprise environments.
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging abilities with a focus on delivering high-performing, user-friendly, and scalable reporting solutions while ensuring compliance with organizational standards.
