ASSYST is seeking a Senior Business Data Analyst to support our client in Austin, TX.
The Business Data Analyst will play a critical role in analyzing existing business processes, data flows, and system functionalities to identify challenges and opportunities for improvement. This role is responsible for eliciting, documenting, and translating complex business needs into clear and actionable requirements for system enhancements or new solutions. The analyst will work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and technical teams to ensure alignment between business objectives and technology capabilities.
Job Type: Contract (Corp to Corp/C2C or 1099)
Job Location: Austin, TX (Mon, Tues & Thurs Onsite)
Program will only allow candidates who are LOCAL TO THE AUSTIN AREA ONLY (Within 50-mile radius).
Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze current business requirements, processes, and data flows to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and pain points.
  • Elicit, document, and refine business requirements for new systems, enhancements, and process improvements.
  • Write detailed Epics and User Stories with acceptance criteria to communicate functional and non-functional requirements to development and QA teams.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, and cross-functional teams to ensure shared understanding of requirements and desired outcomes.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including data dictionaries, business requirements, and data mapping specifications.
  • Design and present data workflows, models, and dashboards to communicate insights, project timelines, and performance trends.
  • Facilitate workshops, stakeholder interviews, and data-focused meetings to gather requirements and drive issue resolution.
  • Act as a liaison between technical and non-technical teams to ensure successful project delivery and system adoption.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 13+ years of hands-on experience as a Business Data Analyst in the IT industry, demonstrating strong analytical and documentation expertise.
  • 13+ years of proven ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical teams to analyze complex data-driven business problems and recommend solutions.
  • 10+ years of experience designing and optimizing data workflows and management processes using modeling or mapping tools.
  • 10+ years of experience writing Epics and User Stories, including acceptance criteria, for development and QA teams.
  • 8+ years of experience creating and maintaining data-related documentation (e.g., data dictionaries, BRDs, data mapping specifications).
  • 8+ years of experience designing and presenting visual data models and dashboards to communicate insights and trends.
  • 8+ years of demonstrated ability to lead data-focused meetings, document outcomes, and drive resolution of data-related issues.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience managing multiple data-related projects concurrently.
  • Strong multitasking, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
