Palo Alto Network Security Engineer

• 2-4 years of experience in a network security or firewall administration role.
• Hands-on experience with:
• Palo Alto Networks Next-Gen Firewalls (NGFW)
• Fortinet FortiGate Firewalls
• Experience in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) or Security Operations Center (SOC) environment preferred.
• Strong command of TCP/IP, routing (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), switching, branch/Data Center architectures.
• Experienced with IPSEC/SSL VPN, PKI, Scripting (C/Python), and lab-based packet-processing.
• Proficiency in network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, NAT, IPSec, SSL).
• Ability to interpret firewall logs and correlate with network activity.
• Experience with Palo Alto Networks products is highly desirable
• Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills; able to engage technical and non-technical audiences

Role Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Tier 2 Security Engineer with a strong background in supporting and managing Palo Alto Networks and Fortinet security solutions within a managed services environment. This position will focus on handling escalated security incidents, firewall policy changes, configuration updates, troubleshooting, and day-to-day operational support for our clients' next-generation firewall infrastructure.

As part of our Security Operations team, you will work alongside Tier 1 analysts and Tier 3 engineers to ensure consistent and secure operations, maintain customer satisfaction, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts in our service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide Tier 2 support for firewall operations, policy management, and network security events.
• Perform configuration changes, policy updates, and troubleshooting on Palo Alto and Fortinet firewalls.
• Assist with onboarding and maintaining customer firewall infrastructure in alignment with service level agreements (SLAs).
• Conduct advanced log analysis and escalate complex issues to Tier 3 as needed.
• Collaborate with Tier 1 analysts to review alerts and ensure appropriate responses.
• Document and update runbooks, technical guides, and configuration templates.
• Participate in changing control processes and scheduled maintenance windows.
• Maintain awareness of security best practices and threat landscape relevant to Palo Alto and Fortinet technologies.
• Monitor device health, firmware versions, and apply patches/upgrades as approved.
• Support new customer deployments or migrations under guidance from Tier 3 engineers.
• Maintain high standards of communication and professionalism with internal teams and external clients.
