We are actively seeking qualified candidates to fill the role of Information Security Analyst for a DoD Intelligence program in the National Capital Region.
Job Summary:
The Information Security Analyst will plan, implement, upgrade or monitor security measures for the protection of computer networks and information. The analyst ensures appropriate security controls are in place that to safeguard digital files, vital electronic infrastructure, and responds to computer security breaches and viruses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts or coordinates vulnerability scans, and penetration testing on systems and recommend risk mitigation strategies
- Operates, administers and monitors network and host based intrusion detection/prevention systems
- Assists in identifying and implementing appropriate security safeguards, including patch application and anti-malware strategies
- Analyzes network traffic, intrusion attempts, activity logs and system alerts for trends, anomalies and potential security breaches
- Maintains dashboards, alerts and reports to ensure proactive detection and escalation of risks
- Performs ongoing vulnerability assessments, tracks remediation efforts and validates findings
- Supports patch management and configuration management processes to reduce the attack surface
- Maintains and updates system security plans (SSPs) to document the implementation of security controls
- Assists in compliance with evolving frameworks
- Triages, analyzes and documents security incidents across systems
- Researches the latest security technologies to safeguard the organization
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in cybersecurity, systems engineering, software engineering, computer science, information technology/systems or equivalent years of experience
- 3-5 years of experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF) security controls
- 3-5 years of experience with Security Technical Implementation Guidance (STIG)
Desired Qualifications:
- Master s degree in cybersecurity, systems engineering, software engineering, computer science, information technology/systems or equivalent
