Our client has a requirement for a mid-level Cisco network engineer to help manage and support their growing network at facilities in the Upper Valley, New Hampshire and Vermont.
This position would be based in a facility within the client's service region and will require local travel. This is an on-site position as hands-on work is required. This is a 12-month contract to hire opportunity.
This person would balance time working with current network engineering staff, project/facilities managers, and directly with local staff to participate in project implementation and installation of network hardware and systems.
The position requires performing a variety of tasks related to critical IT network systems. Requires working knowledge of LAN/WAN network infrastructure and protocols. This includes supporting and troubleshooting routers, switches, wireless, video, unified communications, hardware, and network management configurations within a 24x7x365 high-availability healthcare environment. As such, the role requires experience or expertise in a wide range of Cisco network technology solutions and implementations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Installation, configuration and troubleshooting of LAN/WAN network deployments, to include access switches, small site routers, and basic wireless networking technologies.
- Produce and update technical documentation and diagrams for Engineering and Operational teams as part of routine work and project requirements.
- Able to perform equipment upgrades, to include racking, configuring, patching, testing and troubleshooting /
- Provide timely communication to the team, operations center and clients, during high stress incidents, notifying them of impending changes or agreed upon service impacts, attending required meetings.
- Able to respond quickly to changing support needs in all manner of clinical areas
- Demonstrate good verbal and written communications and ability to cross train and interact with all manner of IT Support teams and staff as well as employees and vendor representatives.
- Travel year-round in the client's areas/regions of service.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Travel up to 90% in the region and potentially, the greater client s coverage/support area
- Participate in a team on-call rotation schedule once fully trained
- Responsible for tracking time daily and expenses as they occur
- Demonstrated capability of quickly learning new technologies required for accomplishing all assigned tasks and any related project/implementation goals.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a network engineering
- Demonstrate appropriate sense of urgency working in production clinical environments, ensuring exceptional customer service and communication
- Develop in-depth knowledge of our standards, procedures, policies and operations and how they relate to the enterprise and operational needs
- Coordinate with third party labor (remote hands) ensuring completion and quality control as per enterprise standards
- Ability to successfully analyze and resolve complex issues with an emphasis on user satisfaction
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Capable of multi-tasking in a high-pressure environment maintaining a professional demeanor
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience implementing and supporting networking equipment, and control systems in a rapidly expanding enterprise environment, working knowledge of and hands-on experience with Cisco Equipment is required.
- Strong troubleshooting skills regarding, network components, both wired and wireless and NAC The ideal engineer can quickly identify and resolve problems with minimal supervision.
- LAN/WAN troubleshooting and configuration experience Layer 2, Layer 3, Wireless
- Knowledge of networking protocols and components including TCP/IP, DNS, CLIENT SCP
- Scripting experience PowerShell, Bash, Python, Splunk is a
- Work with Cisco IOS, IOSXE, Enterprise Management and control Cisco DNAC, Cisco ISE, Wireless Control Systems, Firewalls, Solarwinds Monitoring and WAN carrier equipment a plus.
- Proven ability to successfully analyze and perform problem resolution with an emphasis on user
- Excellent written and oral communications
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 40lbs on
REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field OR 3 years of equivalent work experience in network troubleshooting, network engineering, or related IT environment. Must be able to show on the job experience with supported Cisco network hardware.
- Must have or obtain at least one Network Certification (Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network +, or similar) within the first year of employment.
