IT Support Tech Lead with PHP job description

  1. Responsibilities:
  2. Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Guiding and mentoring junior developers on the IT support team, particularly in PHP-related tasks and troubleshooting.
  3. Project Management: Overseeing PHP-based IT support projects, ensuring timely and efficient completion.
  4. PHP Development: Contributing to the development and maintenance of PHP applications or tools used within the IT support environment, like ticketing systems or internal dashboards.
  5. Technical Support: Providing escalated technical support for complex PHP-related issues, troubleshooting bugs, and identifying root causes.
  6. Code Reviews & Best Practices: Conducting code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to coding standards, advocating for best practices in PHP development within the team.
  7. Collaboration & Communication: Working closely with other teams (e.g., software development, operations, business partners and clients) to address technical challenges and implement solutions.
  8. Skills:
  9. Strong PHP Development Skills: Expertise in PHP programming, including frameworks (e.g., Laravel, Symfony), and a deep understanding of object-oriented programming principles. PHP (versions 5.x 7.x and 8.x), MySQL, and web technologies.
  10. IT Support Knowledge: Familiarity with IT support processes, troubleshooting techniques, and common IT infrastructure components.
  11. Leadership & Mentorship: Ability to lead and motivate team members, provide guidance, and foster a collaborative work environment.
  12. Communication & Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling clear communication of technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  13. Project Management: Experience with planning, executing, and delivering projects on time and within budget.
  14. Problem-solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to PHP applications and IT infrastructure.
  15. Code Management and Deployment: Experience with Git and collaborative development practices with a strong understand of GitFlow and application deployment processes.


  1. Requirements:
  2. At least 5 years of experience in PHP development, with a strong focus on maintaining and enhancing legacy systems.
  3. Proficiency in PHP (versions 5.x, 7.x and 8.x), MySQL, and web technologies.
  4. Familiarity with legacy systems and understanding of strategies for updating and optimizing them.
  5. Experience with Git and collaborative development practices with a strong understand of GitFlow and application deployment processes.
  6. Knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
