Sr. Technical Consultant CA Workload Automation DE (dSeries Edition) Upgrade Consultant
Remote Role

Client is seeking a skilled and experienced CA Workload Automation DE (dSeries Edition) Upgrade Consultant to perform the upgrade of CA WA DE r12.3 to the latest supported version. The consultant will plan and execute upgrade strategies, analyze the current environment, identify risks, and implement best practices. This is a remote role requiring flexibility to work in different time zones (preferably PST).

Responsibilities

  • Execute the upgrade of CA Workload Automation DE (dSeries Edition) r12.3 to the latest supported version.

  • Plan and implement upgrade strategies, including both in-place and migration-based upgrades.

  • Analyze the current environment, identify risks, and provide recommendations for best practices.

  • Develop upgrade documentation including detailed runbooks, rollback plans, test cases, and upgrade guides.

  • Perform pre-upgrade assessments, environment readiness checks, and post-upgrade validations.

  • Migrate and validate job configurations, calendars, resources, artifacts, and event triggers.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues encountered during the upgrade process.

  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams (Application, DBA, Network) to ensure smooth integration and minimal downtime.

  • Coordinate with the Batch team during downtime windows.

  • Provide training and knowledge transfer to internal teams post-upgrade.

  • Attend client meetings as required.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with CA Workload Automation DE (dSeries Edition) r12.3 and above.

  • Proven experience upgrading from older to higher versions of CA WA DE (minimum 1 2 upgrade projects).

  • Strong understanding of both in-place and migration upgrade methodologies.

  • Deep expertise in CA WA DE job configurations, including job types, dependencies, calendars, resources, artifacts, and event triggers.

  • Hands-on experience in preparing upgrade documentation, rollback plans, and troubleshooting guides.

  • Familiarity with AWS cloud environments.

  • Working knowledge of Linux/Unix environments and command-line tools.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.

  • Knowledge of CA/Broadcom support tools and documentation resources.

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
