Title: Hardware Engineer mTIB Support (OCTA/NFTA)
Location: Columbia, MD - Hybrid
Type: 6 months Contract


Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Hardware Engineer to support our mTIB developer team with integration, validation, and field support of custom hardware for public transit systems at OCTA and NFTA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hardware testing, embedded systems, and hands-on troubleshooting in live transit or industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support integration and validation of custom hardware boards in transit infrastructure.
  • Conduct on-site deployment, configuration, and commissioning of hardware systems.
  • Perform hardware acceptance testing and ensure compliance with transit authority standards.
  • Troubleshoot field-reported hardware issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, vendors, and operations teams to resolve technical challenges.
  • Maintain detailed hardware documentation, test plans, and support materials.
  • Participate in hardware design reviews and suggest improvements based on field performance.Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor s in Electrical or Computer Engineering (Master s preferred).
  • 5 10 years of hardware engineering or field integration experience.
  • Strong knowledge of embedded systems and protocols like RS-485, CAN, Modbus, Ethernet/IP.
  • Experience in hardware validation, testing, and system integration.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools (oscilloscopes, multimeters, analyzers, sniffers).
  • Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Field deployment experience in transportation or industrial environments is a plus.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
