RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking an Android App Developer in Palo Alto, CA.
Project Overview:
Join our cutting-edge Android Automotive team, developing next-generation infotainment and digital key experiences that redefine the in-vehicle user experience. You will be part of a fast-moving, startup-like environment within the company's innovation group, helping to build brand-new features for Android-based systems that integrate with the broader HMI (Human Machine Interface) platform.
Essential Functions:
* Develop new features for the Company's Digital Key CCC and Settings applications within the Android Automotive ecosystem
* Build and refine UI screens for tuner and settings apps, working from established design themes and Figma mockups
* Collaborate with designers and embedded engineers to integrate Android components into a virtualized system that combines Android with the broader HMI environment
* Work in a highly agile setting with not fully defined requirements, using problem-solving skills to drive solutions in an evolving space
* Contribute to the GNS HAL layer and interface with platform-level system components
* Participate in code reviews, testing, and version control using GitHub and build tools such as Bitbake and Garrett
REQUIREMENTS:
* 3+ years of experience in Android development, specifically within Android Automotive OS (AAOS) environments
* Proven experience in Kotlin and Java for Android application development
* Automotive software background - familiarity with in-vehicle infotainment, HMI systems, or digital key technologies
* Hands-on experience with Bitbake, Garrett, and GitHub for build and source control management
* Strong collaboration skills to thrive in a fast-paced, early-stage, startup-style environment
* Comfort working from partial requirements and translating Figma-based designs into production-quality applications
Nice to Have:
* Familiarity with virtualized Android environments that integrate with non-Android systems
* Experience contributing to HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) development
* Prior experience with OEM automotive platforms or embedded infotainment projects
Why This Role:
You will work on visible, next-generation features that directly impact the company's in-vehicle digital experience. If you thrive on ambiguity, innovation, and rapid development, this is an opportunity to shape the future of automotive technology.
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
Note: Pay is not considered compensation until it is earned, vested and determinable. The amount and availability of any compensation remains in Kforce's sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified in its discretion consistent with the law.
This job is not eligible for bonuses, incentives or commissions.
