Senior Windows Engineer

Overview
As a Senior Windows Engineer, you will be a key member of the level 3 engineering team, serving as the highest technical escalation point. You will lead Windows Server and Messaging infrastructure initiatives, manage cross-team projects, and design and deploy innovative solutions. This role demands deep technical expertise in Windows Server and Messaging technologies.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and support Windows Server infrastructure proactively and reactively.
- Perform Active Directory maintenance, design, and optimization, including group policy changes, audits, OU cleanup, and functional upgrades.
- Support Microsoft Exchange Servers with Database Availability Group and DR nodes.
- Design, upgrade, and migrate Microsoft Exchange to newer versions while ensuring high availability.
- Maintain Office 365 Directory Synchronization tool.
- Design and support custom messaging systems for migration to Office 365.
- Implement and support email authentication technologies (SPF, DKIM, DMARC).
- Deploy, maintain, and support Mobile Device Management, Anti-Spam, and other messaging systems.
- Assist users and Helpdesk with connectivity issues related to messaging systems.
- Manage mailbox quotas and storage requirements.
- Maintain Certificate Services, including custom templates, permissions, and auto-issuance policies.
- Implement and troubleshoot IIS per application owner requirements.
- Collaborate with the network team to ensure DNS records are current and adhere to best practices.
- Configure network policy services for 802.1x purposes and advise on security updates.
- Build and maintain secure Windows Server images and Group Policies in collaboration with the information security team.
- Act as a technical lead, project manager, and level 3 engineer, ensuring projects adhere to BC/DR best practices.
- Maintain print and file services environments for optimal configuration and uptime.
- Ensure failover clustering adheres to best practices and performs as expected.
- Troubleshoot, configure, and manage Windows Operating Systems, including Windows Clusters in physical and virtual environments.
- Identify and implement automation opportunities.
- Develop and maintain extensive documentation for new and existing solutions.
- Identify and design new solutions to streamline the environment and benefit the business.
- Provide administrative support for other systems as required by the Tier-2 and 3 Infrastructure team.
- Recommend and implement solutions to improve system reliability and performance.
- Interact with management and employees to resolve system issues.
- Meet deadlines and produce quality deliverables while adhering to standardized workflows and processes.
- Participate in the on-call schedule for emergency support.
Job Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience with MS Exchange and Active Directory environments.
- Extensive experience with MS Exchange 2010/2016/2019 with multi-site DAG and Windows 2016/2019.
- 3 years of experience supporting Exchange in a VMware environment.
- 3 years of experience with Microsoft System Center suite of tools (SCCM, SCOM).
- Strong knowledge of DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.
- Basic knowledge of Linux administration.
- Availability for emergency support via pager 24x7.
- Strong work ethic and ability to meet project deadlines.
- Experience with mid to large scale servers/network environments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Standard & Enterprise (2014, 2016, 2017, 2019).
- Proficiency with PowerShell and other scripting languages.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Project management skills and ability to lead meetings.
