Job Details

Title: UI/UX Designer II

Duration: 1 Year with possibility for multi-year extensions

Location: Madison, WI

Candidate MUST be a WI resident or willing to relocate to WI at their own expense prior to starting the role.

The selected hire will need to come onsite on day 1 for in-person orientation.

After that, they'll be expected to come onsite once per month for in-person meetings, possibly more frequently based on project needs.

Project details: This is a critical design position needed to drive the development and support of the IRIS 2.0 modernization project, a full replacement of the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation's case management system. The selected hire will play an integral role on self-directed project teams working on this high priority development project.

Top Required Skills & Years of Experience:

  1. Experience as a lead designer in an development project, preferably involving modernization of technology, as well as working with a cross-functional team to redesign and simplify UX and workflows to meet modern application design standards, using a material design library and component framework, such as MudBlazor - 2 years experience
  2. Experience creating wireframes/prototypes and iterating over them with cross-functional stakeholders - 4 years experience
  3. Experience creating personas and testing designs against the personas - 4 years experience
  4. Knowledgable of modern code implementations, US web design standards, and product strategy - 4 years experience

Nice to Have Skills:

  1. Experience working within Agile principles and processes - 2 years
  2. Experience using MudBlazor material design library - 1 year
  3. Experience training software developers and business analysts on UX principles and best practices - 2 years
  4. Previous experience providing this service for government a plus, and experience with DWD's environments will be especially valuable
