RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Maryland Heights, MO that is seeking experienced, forward-thinking Full Stack Technical Leads to join their Ordering Back-Office development team. This team has a solid foundation of long-tenured developers and is ready for fresh energy and new perspectives. We need tech leaders who are ready to challenge the status quo, influence change, and drive modernization efforts-without alienating the team.
Summary:
This is not a traditional "hands-on every day" development role. Instead, we're looking for seasoned engineers who can guide, mentor, and lead by example, stepping in technically when the moment demands. You'll act as a change agent, helping evolve processes, introduce engineering best practices, and ensure the team is building scalable, modern solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide technical leadership across back-end and full-stack projects within the Ordering Back-Office domain
* Collaborate with long-standing dev team members to modernize legacy approaches and improve overall code quality and team agility
* Act as a hands-on contributor when necessary, helping unblock teams or demonstrate best practices
* Be a strategic voice in architectural discussions and CI/CD improvements
* Partner with engineering leadership and product to drive delivery excellence
* Foster a culture of accountability, technical rigor, and continuous improvement
REQUIREMENTS:
* Strong communicator with the ability to build trust while driving change
* Able to balance strategic oversight with tactical execution
* Comfortable poking holes and asking hard questions-with tact and respect
* Enjoys mentoring developers and driving team-wide best practices
* Thrive in environments where change is welcomed-but must be earned
Must have experience with:
* Java (expert-level understanding)
* Spring Boot
* Redis
* MongoDB
* Kubernetes
* SQL (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL)
* CI/CD pipelines and tooling
Nice to have:
* AWS or cloud platform experience
* Background in high-volume transactional systems
* Prior experience in "turnaround" or transformation-focused teams
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
