Overview:
We are seeking a dependable and technically skilled Field Engineer (FE) to provide Hands & Feet (H&F) onsite support for the installation of new Starlink internet circuits. The FE will serve as the physical presence for the remote client engineering team, assisting with the installation, console access, and connectivity validation at client sites.
Requirement:
- Prior experience supporting internet circuit and network device installations
- Ability to provide console access to networking equipment (routers/switches)
- Strong communication skills for working with remote engineers via video call or chat
- Reliable personal internet connection or hotspot for onsite remote support coordination
- Punctual, professional, and able to follow detailed technical instructions
Required Equipment (Technician Must Bring):
- Working console cable (USB-to-Serial or RS232)
- Spare console cable as backup
- Laptop with console software (e.g., PuTTY) pre-installed
- Reliable personal internet hotspot or access to stable site Wi-Fi
- Smartphone or device for communication and photo documentation
- Basic technician toolkit (screwdrivers, flashlight, etc.)
Pre-Site Requirements:
- Confirm access to the site and verify appointment with the site POC
- Ensure laptop and all required cables and tools are functional
- Test remote connectivity (MS Teams/Zoom) using the hotspot or Wi-Fi
- Review any documentation or instructions provided by the Client team
On-Site Responsibilities:
- Arrive at the site on time and check in with the site contact
- Join a live session with the Client remote engineer via MS Teams or Zoom
- Provide console access to Starlink devices or associated networking hardware
- Assist with physical setup, cabling, and device power-up
- Ensure cabling is neat, secure, and as per client standards
- Communicate real-time status updates to the client team during the process
Post-Site Requirements:
- Submit a brief report of the work completed
- Share required photos of the installation (rack, device, cabling, etc.)
- Confirm with the client team that the circuit is operational
- Notify the project coordinator of task completion and any on-site observations
Escalation:
In the event of:
- Inability to establish console access
- Equipment not delivered or missing
- Site access issues or delays
- Internet connectivity issues preventing remote support
