Sr. SQL Developer (Hybrid)

You will be supporting the industries leading web and mobile applications to ensure regulations and guidelines are in compliance for benefits and payments. You will be the primary owner of the organization's Azure SQL instances reporting to the Engineering VP. You will be responsible for database architecture, availability, performance, monitoring, scalability, and security. Support multiple Scrum teams, participating in design and requirements sessions and helping ensure that changes to database objects meet quality and performance standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage databases from development to production systems.
• Configure and maintain database servers and processes to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
• Utilize best practices to manage database architecture, document technical specifications and in load testing ensuring rapid scalability.
• Support critical production systems, identifying root causes and resolve them of database related issues.
• Write and performance tune SQL queries, stored procedures, indexes, and views.
• Review all SQL written by application engineers and others.
• Ensure schemas meet performance expectations by applying data modeling techniques.
• Collaborate with cross functional agile teams determine scope and level of effort for database projects.
• Provide guidance to application engineers and testers in a highly collaborative environment to implement requirements.
• Develop, document, and maintain policies and procedures for ensuring database health and performance.
• Mentor and share technical expertise and help with cross-training for peers and and more junior team members.

BACKGROUND

• Senior level experience designing, developing and SQL Server databases with proven experience as a Senior or Lead SQL Developer
• Strong experience in an Azure Cloud environment
• Experience with the architecture, setup, and maintenance of MS Azure SQL service tiers including General Purpose, Business Critical, and HyperScale.
• Strong database programming experience including complex stored procedures and views, query optimization, data modeling, and performance tuning.
• Superior knowledge of database design and data modeling best practices.
• Ability to monitor, maintain, and provide visibility into database health and performance using Azure Metrics and other tools.
• Familiarity with the Azure portal to view and optimize database costs across multiple environments and subscriptions.
