Mechanical Engineer

Mining Projects (Hybrid)

Pittsburg, Pennsylvania (This role can also be based in either Ohio or Virginia, depending on what works best for the successful candidate.)

Full-Time | Hybrid Schedule

Compensation: $81,000 $137,000 DOE + Full Benefits

You ll be part of a collaborative, inclusive team based in the Americas with 30% travel to different sites in the US. Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer ready to take on a highly visible role supporting large-scale mining operations and capital projects?


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with operations, process, and project teams to define scope, estimate costs, and develop conceptual and detailed designs for capital projects.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in mechanical systems design, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
  • Review and approve technical documentation from outside engineering firms, including P&IDs, GA drawings, specs, and vendor submittals.
  • Provide engineering support for plant equipment such as conveyors, crushers, kilns, fans, pumps, silos, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety and environmental standards and regulatory codes (NFPA, MSHA, CEMA, OSHA, etc.).
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams and external contractors to execute project deliverables.
  • Support performance enhancements, root-cause analysis, and cost-effective mechanical system upgrades.


What You Bring:

  • Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 8+ years of mechanical or project engineering experience in a mining or a cement plant or aggregate environment.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Inventor, Navisworks, or similar design tools.
  • Solid understanding of rotating equipment (conveyors and crushers), dust collection systems, and material handling.
  • Familiarity with project budgeting, scheduling, and technical documentation (RFQs, bid evaluations).
  • Strong communication skills to work across technical teams, contractors, and plant leadership.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% domestically, with occasional international assignments.


Preferred Skills:

  • Cross-disciplinary knowledge in civil or electrical engineering.
  • Experience with SAP or willingness to learn.
  • Hands-on involvement in rotary or vertical lime kilns is a strong plus.
  • Experience supporting greenfield or brownfield construction and startup phases.
