Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join our dynamic team at Sam's Club. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage cross-functional teams across different geographies. This role involves overseeing the unification of tech stacks, managing migrations, and ensuring the successful implementation of new capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Initiative and Proactivity:
1. Take initiative in identifying and addressing issues without needing constant supervision.
2. Proactively manage tasks such as checking for anniversaries and birthdays, and ensuring timely communication.
Technical Knowledge:
1. Utilize tools like Jira and Slack for project management and communication.
2. Handle technical challenges, including managing security vulnerabilities and integrating third-party tools.
Cross-Functional and Cross-Geographical Coordination:
1. Manage teams across different time zones (US and India) and ensure effective communication and collaboration.
2. Facilitate standups and status updates, ensuring all tasks are documented in Jira before meetings.
Problem-Solving and Adaptability:
1. Handle last-minute requirements and changes efficiently.
2. Conduct thorough impact analysis and propose feasible solutions, such as scope reduction or phased rollouts.
Communication and Transparency:
1. Maintain strong communication with stakeholders, keeping them informed and aligned.
2. Ensure transparency with the team and stakeholders about progress, risks, and blockers.
Team Motivation and Morale:
1. Motivate and support the team, especially during high-pressure situations.
2. Prevent blame games and ensure a positive work environment.
Experience with Agile and Scrum Methodologies:
1. Run standups and manage sprints using agile and scrum practices.
2. Track and manage tasks using Jira.
Attention to Detail and Organizational Skills:
1. Manage detailed status updates and ensure all tasks are tracked.
2. Handle multiple teams and projects simultaneously.
Role-Specific Responsibilities
Project Management:
1. Oversee the unification of tech stacks across Walmart's various entities, including Sam's Club, Canada, and Mexico.
2. Manage the migration of capabilities to a new tech stack and ensure smooth implementation.
24-Hour Support Cycle:
1. Ensure continuous support and coordination between teams in different time zones.
PI Planning:
1. Lead PI planning sessions and ensure deliverables are aligned with milestones.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
1. Minimum of 10 years of experience in technical program management.
2. Proven experience in managing cross-functional teams and handling technical challenges.
3. Experience with agile and scrum methodologies.
Skills:
Strong technical knowledge and experience with tools like Jira and Slack.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
