Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to join our team as a Senior Manager. In this role, you will lead the strategic direction of our enterprise architecture, ensuring alignment between business strategy and IT initiatives across our propane distribution operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with our core technologies including SAP, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Ariba, Right Angle, and Ortec, as well as proven expertise managing hybrid cloud environments in Azure and AWS alongside on-premises infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Develop and maintain the enterprise architecture roadmap in alignment with business objectives and industry best practices
Lead architectural governance and oversight for all technology initiatives across the organization
Collaborate with executive leadership to translate business strategy into architectural vision and execution plans
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to technology teams across the organization
Architecture Design & Implementation
Design and oversee implementation of enterprise-wide architecture solutions spanning on-premises and cloud environments (Azure and AWS)
Manage integration between critical business systems including SAP, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Ariba, Right Angle, and Ortec
Oversee middleware strategy and implementation, with particular focus on SAP BTP and Process Integration/Process Orchestration (PI/PO)
Establish standards, patterns, and best practices for system integration, data management, and application development
Ensure architecture decisions support business continuity, disaster recovery, and security requirements specific to the propane distribution industry
Cloud & Digital Transformation
Lead cloud strategy and migration initiatives between on-premises systems and cloud platforms (Azure and AWS)
Design hybrid architecture solutions that optimize system performance, reliability, and cost- effectiveness
Develop strategies for modernizing legacy systems and applications while minimizing business disruption
Guide the adoption of containerization, microservices, and API-first approaches where appropriate
Governance & Compliance
Establish and maintain enterprise architecture standards, policies, and procedures
Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards specific to the propane distribution sector Implement architecture review processes for all major technology initiatives
Develop and monitor architecture-related KPIs and metrics
Stakeholder Management
Serve as the primary technical liaison between IT and business departments Lead architecture review boards and governance committees
Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Build consensus around architectural decisions across diverse stakeholder groups
Qualifications
Required Experience & Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; Master's degree preferred
10+ years of experience in IT architecture roles with progressive responsibility
5+ years of experience in a senior architecture role within the energy, utilities, or distribution industry Demonstrated experience architecting and implementing enterprise solutions using SAP and
Microsoft technologies
Extensive experience with middleware integration platforms, particularly SAP BTP and PI/PO
Proven track record leading cloud migration and hybrid cloud architecture initiatives on Azure and AWS
Experience with supply chain and logistics systems such as Right Angle and Ortec
Technical Knowledge
Deep understanding of SAP architecture, including ECC, S/4HANA, and SAP BTP
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics CRM architecture and integration patterns Expertise in enterprise integration patterns and middleware solutions
Comprehensive understanding of cloud architecture principles for both Azure and AWS
Knowledge of API management, microservices architecture, and containerization technologies Familiarity with data architecture, business intelligence, and analytics platforms
Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and principles as they relate to enterprise architecture
Leadership & Professional Skills
Strong strategic thinking and planning capabilities Excellent communication and presentation skills
Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills
Experience managing architectural governance in complex organizations
Strong business acumen and understanding of the propane distribution industry
Certifications (Preferred)
TOGAF, Zachman, or other enterprise architecture certification
AWS Certified Solutions Architect and/or Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect SAP Certified Technology Associate - System Architecture
ITIL certification
