We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our Government Services team and support our client fully remote.

What will you be doing?

The Data Engineer, in support of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Office of the Chief Data Officer (OCDO), will collaborate with stakeholders and leaders from both the client and company to ensure proper coordination and execution of analytics lab environment activities. The goal is to provide the DISA workforce with a highly accessible analytics lab environment that will influence and enable the advancement of data analytics across the organization. Analytics Enablement encompasses the essential infrastructure, tooling, processes, and business model required to democratize access to analytics capabilities and organizational data assets to a broad range of DISA organizational stakeholders. The position requires significant interaction and collaboration between cross-functional lines of business.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Define operational procedures and practices
  • Work cross-organizationally to facilitate widespread use and adoption of the AWS and/or Azure platforms, and developing a deep expertise in the AWS/Azure technologies broad knowledge around how applications and services are constructed using the AWS/Azure platform
  • Coordinate and/or complete the development of all necessary design documentation associated with cloud service solutions
  • Educate customers on the value proposition of AWS, and participate in architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in the cloud
  • Recommend strategies for migration of existing systems to AWS
  • Develops high level functional and technical design specifications into design for web applications using SOA, Micro services and container technologies
  • Provide Consultancy and architecture support for Application migration to public and private cloud
  • Engages in developing proof of concepts (POCs) for new projects, assessment for cloud amenability and create business case
  • Drives engineering processes for the project such as building applications for Cloud (AWS/Azure/Pivotal Cloud Foundry), build automation, unit testing, software configuration management and creating logical and deployment architecture for cloud
  • Create best practices / technical guidelines for building & hosting applications in private & public cloud environment

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have an active DoD Secret security clearance.
  • BA/BS degree or higher in Computer Science or Information Systems
  • 6-8 years of experience in some or all the following areas: software development, application architecture, technical architecture, requirements development, requirements management, design methodologies, DevSecOps, CI/CD, agile development methodologies, application integration, high availability, application performance, test automation, serverless, microservices, containerization, monitoring, instrumentation, observability, etc.
  • 2+ Years of Experience with software development and application migration in cloud environments.


ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply with a broad range of IT, Cloud and Data relevant industry frameworks and maturity models such as DevOps, SRE, Chaos Engineering, 12 Factor Applications, DataOps, AWS Well Architected Framework, ITIL, ITSM, et al.
  • Experience with a variety of IT, industry, and government compliance standards such as Sarbanes-Oxley, CMMC, FIAR, FISMA, NIST, RMF, Section 508, et al
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), including EC2, EBS, AutoScaling, ELB, VPC, S3, SQS, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, RDS, or IAM
