Job Title: Director of Campus Applications
Location: San Jose, CA (Hybrid 3 days/week onsite)
Job Type: 6-Month Contract to Hire

Position Overview

A leading higher education institution in the San Jose area is seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Campus Applications to lead enterprise application services and IT project execution. This role is critical in overseeing the strategy, development, support, and implementation of enterprise applications to enhance institutional operations and user experience.

The Director will manage a diverse portfolio of web and business applications, lead cross-functional teams, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to align technology solutions with organizational priorities. This is a key opportunity to drive digital transformation and innovation across campus operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic vision and daily leadership to enterprise application teams and projects.

  • Oversee planning and execution of multiple concurrent IT initiatives, ensuring timely, within-scope, and budget-conscious delivery.

  • Collaborate with academic and administrative stakeholders to assess needs and prioritize application development and support.

  • Lead staff development including coaching, performance evaluations, and goal setting.

  • Ensure reliable support, maintenance, and security of enterprise applications.

  • Manage the full lifecycle of internally developed and third-party applications from design and development to deployment and retirement.

  • Develop and manage budgets, resource allocation, and service delivery metrics.

  • Serve as a key representative in cross-departmental initiatives and IT governance forums.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership in enterprise application development and delivery.

  • 5+ years of IT management experience, including team leadership and interdepartmental collaboration.

  • 5+ years of project management experience, with a strong record of delivering complex technology solutions.

  • Experience working within academic institutions or complex organizational structures.

  • Deep knowledge of application lifecycle management, systems integration, and IT service delivery standards.

  • Proven ability to lead business process improvement initiatives through the effective use of technology.

Preferred Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset.

  • Expertise in cloud, web, and mobile application management.

  • Solid understanding of IT governance, compliance, and security standards.

  • Skilled in budgeting, resource planning, and vendor/contractor oversight.

  • Familiarity with agile and waterfall project methodologies.

  • Change agent capable of driving innovation and fostering a high-performance team culture.
