At Delta the role of Senior Database Administrator is a generalist who is responsible for all aspects of data analysis and database management. Database Administrators typically are responsible for a combination of back-end systems management tasks such as provisioning, software installation, patching, and creation of new (or decommissioning of old) databases; capacity and performance analysis, tuning and forecasting; incident and problem management; and support of software development lifecycle tasks such as deploying new database objects. In addition to this the Database Administrator will also have responsibility for managing and supporting tools for monitoring databases, backup and recovery, and DevOps enablement functions such as refreshes or data cloning. Database Administrators will be expected to interface with vendor support organizations and manage cases as needed. The Database Administrator will frequently work with other Delta infrastructure teams as well as application development teams, and strong communication skills both written and oral are a must. The ability to work on multiple projects or initiatives concurrently, and to self-prioritize these tasks and work independently are all critical skills. The Database Administrator is a senior technical role at Delta and as such there will almost certainly be opportunities to work with more junior team members and mentor and support them. Because Delta is a 24x7 business there is an expectation that the Database Administrator will be able to work a flexible schedule which may frequently include off-hours work. There is no expectation for mandatory travel as a part of this position. Delta maintains two primary Information Technology Hubs in the US - one in Atlanta, Georgia and the other in Minneapolis, Minnesota. An applicant for the Database Administrator role will be expected to work the majority of their time on-site at one of these locations. There is some degree of flexibility, but this is not intended as a hybrid or entirely remote working opportunity.
Qualifications:
Minimum 8 years of experience creating and managing Oracle databases and technologies
Experience with versions 12.2 and newer, both standalone and multi-instance Real Application Clusters
Demonstrated strong expertise in diagnosing and resolving database performance or reliability issues
Strong background and hands-on experience administering Oracle Enterprise Manager ecosystem including agents, repositories and management servers in a highly-available, load-balanced configuration
Familiarity with RedHat Linux OS versions 6 and newer
Proven track record of implementing and administering Oracle DataGuard for replication
Able to work independently and balance multiple concurrent projects with mid to long-term deliverables
Hands on development and maintenance of UNIX Korn or Bash shell scripting
Ability to provide technical direction to others, including application developers
Comfortable in high-pressure situations, able to communicate well with both technical peers and leadership
4-year degree (BA or BS) or equivalent work experience in a related field of study
