Job Details
A financial client located in Phoenix, AZ is currently looking for a Staff Cybersecurity Architect to add to their growing team. This individual will own the network security and data protection strategy across both on prem and multi cloud environments. You'll define and implement next-generation firewall infrastructure, DDoS protection, and web application firewall solutions that strengthen the company's global security posture.
In this highly visible, hands on role, you'll collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, and product teams to deliver secure, scalable, and compliant network solutions. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in cloud security, network architecture, and threat mitigation with a passion for modern security design. You'll lead a small team of engineers, author security policies and standards, and evaluate emerging technologies including micro-segmentation and threat intelligence platforms. Its a chance to make a major impact at a large, security driven enterprise and help shape the next evolution of its network defense.
The role would be hybrid with onsite work required at their North Phoenix office 3 days a week.

Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of progressive experience in network security architecture, infrastructure engineering, or cybersecurity leadership
- 3+ years in principal, staff or lead level engineering role guiding technical strategy and mentoring engineers
- Proven ability to design and secure hybrid and multi-cloud environments across AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform
- Deep understanding of network architecture fundamentals including routing, VPNs, DNS, load balancing, and encryption protocols
- Expertise with enterprise firewalls and WAF platforms (Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, F5, Akamai, or Cloudflare)
- Demonstrated success building or improving DDoS mitigation frameworks, intrusion prevention, and web traffic protection
- Hands on experience implementing Zero Trust or micro-segmentation principles to strengthen network defense
- Strong grasp of identity, access, and data protection controls aligned with NIST, ISO 27001 or similar
- Familiarity with threat intelligence and SIEM tools such as Splunk, QRadar, Chronicle or Elastic
- Proficiency with automation and scripting (Python, PowerShell or Bash) to streamline network security operations
- Experience securing containerized or cloud native applications
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, or AWS Security specialty
