Job Description:
- As a Principal Systems Engineer (with 8-10+ years of experience), you will be responsible for User Terminal (UT) requirements, Ku and Ka phased array chipsets, antenna architectures, fast antenna calibration methodology, hardware/software architecture trade-offs, implementation, and defining test and validation plans for various UT configurations.
- You will work in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team environment, supporting the development and productization of UT products.
Responsibilities:
- Define UT systems architecture and sub-systems formal requirements using industry-standard methodologies.
- Perform analysis and design trade-offs for various UT architectures, including RF and performance simulation.
- Analyze and support design of Ku and Ka band phased array chipsets and antennas.
- Define cost-efficient and fast production calibration methodologies for phased arrays.
- Develop top-level to sub-assembly requirements, coverage and test plans, and release management.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on system hardware and software architecture decisions.
- Document and flow down requirements to engineering functional teams.
- Coordinate and align engineering efforts across disciplines.
- Ensure solutions meet technical, performance, regulatory, and business objectives.
- Support in-field test and validation of UT systems.
Required Qualifications:
- BS or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in a SW/HW development environment with at least 5 in a systems/architectural role.
- 10+ years of experience with RF, digital communication, and communication theory.
- 10+ years in developing complex telecommunication or satellite communication systems.
- Experience with formal requirement tools (e.g., Jama, Jira, DOORS).
- Proficiency in Matlab/Python and C/C++ (3+ years).
- Experience with computer networking and TCP/IP protocols (3+ years).
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS/PhD in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
- Familiarity with satellite communication theory.
- Experience with phased array antenna design and implementation.
- Field experience with satellite over-the-air communication trials.
- Strong debugging skills across RF to baseband systems.
