Job Description:
Client needs IMS or DB2 Mainframe admin profile - the immediate requirement is someone with good IMS Apps DBA skills
Responsibilities/Requirements:
- Install, maintain, and upgrade IMS system software and related program products.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in the IMS environment, including database and transaction management.
- Perform system performance analysis and tuning to ensure optimal operation.
- Plan and execute disaster recovery procedures, including various IMS restarts (COLD/WARM/ERE).
- Manage IMS database organization, including defining and adding transactions and programs.
- Conduct health checks, analysis, and system monitoring using tools like SYSVIEW and SMP/E.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration with subsystems like Db2, CICS, and network VTAM/IP.
- Maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Implement and manage security configurations for IMS systems.
Required Skills:
- 10-12 years of hands-on experience with IMS system software on z/OS.
- Proficiency in tools like JCL, TSO/ISPF, SMP/E, and IMS monitoring tools.
- Strong knowledge of IMS database recovery control (DBRC), logging, and control blocks (DBDs, PSBs, ACBs).
- Familiarity with ITIL processes for incident, problem, and change management.
- Expertise in debugging and diagnosing system and utility software issues.
- Experience with IMS Sysplex and data-sharing environments.
