Business Analyst – Partner Data & ETL Systems
Location: USA/ Remote
Duration: 6 Months (can be extendable).
Overview
The Business Analyst will serve as a Subject Matter Expert for Partner Data ecosystem and support our ETL-driven data intake platform used across the organization. This role acts as a key liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring that business needs are accurately understood, translated into system requirements, and delivered with measurable value. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical thinking, excellent communication skills, and deep experience working with data-intensive systems in an agile product environment.
Requirements & Analysis
• Lead requirements elicitation sessions with business stakeholders; proactively prepare discovery questions and clearly document the business problem, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Translate business needs into detailed, actionable system requirements and collaborate with developers and QAs to ensure shared understanding.
• Analyze complex system logic, data flow, and integrations across multiple upstream and downstream systems.
Process & System Evaluation
• Evaluate current operational and technical processes to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.
• Identify opportunities to improve data accuracy, consistency, and completeness across partner and program data.
• Recommend enhancements that optimize data flow, reduce operational friction, and support scalable growth.
• Assess the impact of proposed changes across interdependent systems.
Gap Analysis & Opportunity Identification
• Conduct gap analyses to understand functional or process gaps and propose solutions that align with organizational goals.
• Identify opportunities for automation, improved data quality, and enhanced reporting.
Issue & Defect Management
• Investigate and analyze reported system issues, identifying root causes and contributing factors.
• Recommend solutions or workarounds in partnership with technical teams.
• Document and communicate findings, workarounds and potential solutions to Product Owner and reporting stakeholders to drive agreement and timely resolution.
Agile Delivery Support
• Partner closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters and development teams to clarify requirements, support sprint planning, and ensure delivery of committed work.
• Facilitate decision-making, manage scope changes, and help remove blockers during the development lifecycle.
Stakeholder & Relationship Management
• Build strong relationships with business technology teams and internal stakeholders.
• Effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and communicate progress, risks, and expectations clearly.
• Represent the product area in cross-functional discussions and projects.
Qualifications – Required
• Minimum 5 years of experience in business analysis, systems analysis, technical product support, or a related role.
• Must have strong, demonstrable critical thinking skills, creative problem-solving capability and an eagerness to innovate.
• Proficiency with Excel, SQL, and diagramming tools.
• Experience with data management and data intake systems.
• Experience analyzing data and using AI tools to enhance productivity.
• Excellent verbal, written and visual communication skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently within an agile/Scrum environment.
Qualifications – Preferred
• Experience in higher education or with Online Program Management (OPM) data ecosystems.
• Familiarity with Jira/Confluence, and Salesforce.
• Knowledge of API integrations, data mapping, and data governance.
