Senior AWS Cloud Administrator

Location: Remote (with limited onsite travel to Washington, DC)

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior AWS Cloud Administrator to manage, configure, and optimize AWS environments supporting mission-critical workloads. This individual will play a key role in developing and implementing scalable, secure, and automated cloud solutions in line with best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Cloud Infrastructure Management:

  • Administer, configure, and maintain AWS cloud systems and services.
  • Design and manage AWS networking components including VPCs, subnets, security groups, and route tables.
  • Ensure operational stability, scalability, and security across all AWS environments.

Automation and Deployment:

  • Automate the deployment of workloads using AWS tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS CDK.
  • Create and maintain custom automation scripts using Python, Bash, or similar tools.

Monitoring and Optimization:

  • Monitor system health, resource usage, and costs to ensure high performance and operational efficiency.
  • Apply cost optimization strategies and identify opportunities to streamline AWS operations.

Standards and Best Practices:

  • Develop and enforce operational standards and best practices for cloud deployments.
  • Lead the implementation of new AWS-based solutions aligned with industry standards.

Documentation and Support:

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for AWS infrastructure, processes, and workflows.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure cloud systems meet evolving business needs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree with 5 7 years of experience, Master s with 3 5 years, or Ph.D. with 0 2 years in AWS cloud administration, DevOps, or a related IT field.
  • Strong understanding of AWS services, networking, and security concepts.
  • Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK).
  • Experience scripting in Python, Bash, or other languages for cloud automation.
  • Proven ability to implement cloud cost optimization and performance tuning.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AWS certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect or SysOps Administrator.
  • Experience working on federal government or highly regulated environments.
  • Background in operational excellence and DevSecOps practices.

Clearance: Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary Range: $100,000-$140,000 (Compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, skills, education, certifications, seniority, and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.)
