We are seeking a Senior Developer with architecture experience to join the Operational Risk and Regulatory Control Technology team in New York. This role focuses on regulatory reporting applications for security products and financials, supporting business initiatives and compliance with evolving regulations. Key projects for 2025 include technology stack upgrades, legacy data feed replacements, audit automation, and the strategic build of a reporting platform for business metrics and dashboards.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $150,000 and $210,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.

What you'll do in the role:
- Develop core components for enterprise-scale position aggregation, monitoring, and reporting systems
- Design and implement rule and data flows for data filtering, enrichment, and calculations
- Collaborate with Operations business users to gather business requirements and understand regulatory context
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, managing delivery expectations
- Draft technical specifications, participate in design discussions, and propose solutions
- Responsible for domain architecture across the Reg Apps fleet
- Update application documentation and runbooks
- Conduct code reviews, testing, and change management
- Support User Acceptance Testing, training, and user demos
- Troubleshoot and resolve escalated application issues
- Assist with application and data analysis queries
- Work with data providers to ensure upstream data requirements are met
- Perform data analysis to ensure quality and alignment with upstream sources
- Escalate production data issues as needed
What you'll bring to the role:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related engineering discipline
- Strong proficiency in Core JAVA / J2EE and OOP concepts
- Proficiency in Python scripting
- Understanding of microservices design and development
- Experience with Java frameworks (Spring, Hibernate)
- Knowledge of web services (REST, SOAP, XML, JSON)
- Web development experience (HTML5, JavaScript, Angular)
- Experience supporting and maintaining existing codebases
- Experience with Kafka or MQ
- Experience with UNIX, KSH and Autosys job management
- Strong data analytical skills (SQL)
- Familiarity with SDLC and Agile methodologies
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and professional skills
Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with Cloud technologies
- Experience with Informatica
- Experience in Java multi-threading
- Financial industry knowledge, especially in post trade processing technology
- Knowledge of trades data, positions data and reference data
- Experience in medium to large-scale development projects, preferably in the financial industry
