Job Description:

The Armed Overwatch Program within L3Harris Technologies, is seeking a Deputy Chief Engineer at our Waco, TX location.

L3Harris is actively seeking a Deputy Chief Engineer at our Waco, TX location to support Engineering tasks focused on the lifecycle of our current product including:

  • Production Support - engineering single point for engineering issues in production
  • Fleet Support - engineering single point for engineering issues in fielded aircraft
  • DtV Lead - Project lead for DtV - current and future projects / Continuous Improvement

The candidate for this role will work closely with all Integrated Product Team (IPT) leaders, their teams, and with SMEs to resolve issues and support the continuous improvement of the aircraft; support Change Control Boards; provide technical leadership in root cause corrective action investigations; and work closely with the production team during the integration of updated/new designs launched into production.

The candidate for this role will also: provide communication of status to the Chief Engineer, Development Director, Production Director and Sustainment Director; work closely with Development Director, Production Director and Sustainment Director and their teams as internal customers; develop and maintain a solid relationship with the customer.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in engineering tools for CAD, analysis, and system modeling.
  • 10+ years of experience in aerospace/defense
  • Strong leadership and decision-making abilities, with experience managing teams in a fast-paced environment, particularly focused on leading a matrixed team through influence.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges
  • Adaptability to work in dynamic, high-priority environments with shifting technical challenges
  • Understanding of design life cycle for design, manufacture, assembly and test principles.

Ability to achieve Secret Clearance
