Renewable Entry-Level Mechanical Engineer

POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, is currently initiating a search for a Renewable Entry-Level Mechanical Engineer for our Salt Lake City, Utah office. Be involved in projects with our Power Delivery Renewables II Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact
  • Under the guidance of multiple experienced engineers, the successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the renewable energy projects from generation source to the Point of Interconnection (POI).
  • Responsibilities will range from preliminary solar/wind/BESS site design through the detailed design of low to extra-high-voltage renewable collector substations and gen-tie transmission lines.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
  • The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of transmission line design for new lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber optic additions.

Required Qualifications
  • BSME (BS Mechanical Engineering), A BSREE (BS Renewable Energy Engineering), or related engineering degree from an accredited university preferably with a power option.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of mechanical engineering to build on.
  • Must have a strong command of the English language; experience and demonstrated written and oral communications skills, including the ability to present information, facilitate meetings and provide direction to others.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications
  • At least three months of relevant electrical engineering work experience; could be on an internship or co-op basis.
  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
  • Preferably an engineering degree with a power option from an accredited university.
  • Attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills will be critical for the successful completion of tasks.
  • Candidates who have passed the FE/EIT exam will be strongly considered for this position.
  • Familiarity with design, drafting or engineering software such as MATHCAD, SOLIDWORKS, AUTOCAD, Inventor, etc. as well as Microsoft Excel is beneficial.
