Job Details
The successful candidate serves as a Principal Engineer within Delta's TechOps Engineering organization. The tasks associated with this role are specific to the engineering group and include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Fleet Avionics Engineering - Communication, Navigation, and Surveillance (CNS)
- Provides aircraft engineering support to a variety of internal customers and outside suppliers to support daily operations and long-term reliability/cost effectiveness.
- Reviews, recommends, and implements manufacturer's service bulletins and other correspondence to affected fleets.
- Ability to work independently without significant managerial input, while keeping management and Sr. management appropriately apprised of decisions and progress.
- Represents Delta Air Lines in OEM Technical Review Meetings (TRM) and industry events and conferences.
- Owns end-to-end problem recognition and solution implementation.
- Ability to serve as a team technical leader and willing to mentor junior engineers.
- Identify and develop solutions to maintain aircraft safety, reliability, and capability.
- Research, develop, and manage avionics equipment installation and retrofit projects. Includes on-site verification of project work instructions (Mock-Ups).
- Maintains compliance with applicable FAA regulations and Delta's Technical Operations Policy and Procedures (TOPP).
- Provides status for aircraft issues through various briefings and documentation.
- Supports maintaining the configuration and installation of Avionics software for Delta's fleets.
- Supports shop, hangar, and line maintenance in troubleshooting and providing corrective actions, including repair or deviation documentation for assigned discipline.
- Maintains aircraft cybersecurity protocols, policy, and procedures.
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
- B.S. in Engineering.
- Minimum of 8 years of previous Engineering experience with air lines, military, OEM, or MRO (commercial aircraft is preferred).
- Embraces diverse people, thinking and styles. Consistently makes safety and security, of self and others, the priority.
- Computer programming or software development skills with Matlab, C++, Python are desirable.
- For internal candidates, must be performing satisfactorily in current position.
- Accepts personal responsibility for assignments and acts with a sense of urgency when initiating the necessary steps to complete them. Asks appropriate questions to ensure complete understanding of the task / objective and how solutions impact safety, schedules, and budgets.

- Have good interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Must have good technical writing skills to effectively generate detailed engineering documents using excellent problem-solving skills based on analytical methods
- Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
- Demonstrates that privacy is a priority when handling personal data.

- Consistently makes safety and security of self and others, the priority.
- Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)
- Electrical, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering experience with an Avionics focus.
- Experience working STC solutions to resolve complex Avionics related problem.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly analyze a problem then identify and implement an innovative solution.
- Understanding of Aircraft Field Loadable Software support and implementation.
